"Learning Through Experience: Gaining Insight from the Preliminary Investigation Process"

This is my first time participating in and watching an inquest procedure. We went with PSSg. Jupiter A Decina, IOC is responsible for doing the aforementioned tasks. In criminal cases involving people who have been detained without the benefit of an arrest warrant, a public prosecutor conducts a quick, informal investigation during an inquest procedure (1).

I was able to observe how the prosecutor approached the subject during the inquest proceeding. Even though he is the perpetrator, the prosecutor greeted him with dignity and explained everything to him in a language he understands. I witnessed how the prosecutor handled the suspect despite his inebriation.

Pursuing the mission "To Uphold the Rule of Law" with its "Justice for All" motto, the prosecutor was very professional in his approach and showed that he means to only do his job and seek the truth not only in favor of the victim but also to give the suspect the benefit of the doubt until proven guilty. Hence his actions should be a role model to everyone (2).

Furthermore, I discovered that no matter how high your position in your career, we must constantly be humble and understand our people for as long as we can, especially as future officers who should practice utmost tolerance. We must respect anybody we are dealing with, whether the suspect or the victim of a crime. For such an act shall be not only a reflection of our action but also a reflection of the continuous efforts of the police service to become well-rounded and respectful of a person's rights and welfare

Hence, the importance of the prosecution being fair and just to the people involved in the case was presented. Since such an act will ensure the proper cooperation of both sides in seeking the truth and proper justice for all. On, in the pursuit of justice, maintaining basic human dignity is of basic necessity.
